Steamed Apples

Cooked this way, the apple has a very fresh light flavour and no sugar is needed.

Serves 4.

Preparation time 5 minutes. Cooking time 12 minutes (but may depend on variety of apples)

We used the Tellfresh® Microsafe® 1.8 litre oblong storer with steaming rack.

500 grams eating apples such as Pink Lady, Fuji, Delicious or Gala.
Peel the apples, cut into quarters and core. Place on steaming rack in storer. Pour ½ cup boiling water over apples. Put lid on storer with red vent open. Microwave on high until soft (12 minutes).

Remove from microwave. Let rest for 3 to 4 minutes.
If not soft enough, just microwave again for 2 to 3 minutes.

If not serving hot, remove steaming rack and store apples in remaining liquid.

Note: Pears can be cooked the same way; however, rub with lemon before cooking so they keep a good colour. Choose pears that are not too firm.
