Fresh Tomato Sauce
Preparation time 15 minutes.
Cooking time 9 to 10 minutes.
We used the Decor Microsafe® jug.
750 grams ripe tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
½ teaspoon salt and pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
Peel the tomatoes and chop finely. Put into the Microsafe® jug and add the garlic, salt, pepper and sugar. Stir to mix the ingredients. Put the lid on the Microsafe® jug with pourer open. Microwave on high for 5 minutes. Stir. Microwave again until the tomatoes are soft (4 to 5 minutes). Stir. Remove from the microwave and let rest for 2 minutes. Leave the pourer open whiles the food is hot. Stir the sauce into the cooked pasta.
Before the resting period, mix ½ cup of basil leaves or add ¼ cup of pesto and stir through the sauce
Keep for 5 days refrigerated, or freeze.
