Fresh Tomato Sauce for Pasta, Pizza etc.
A tasty sauce to top off any dish
Preparation time 10 minutes. Cooking time 9 to 10 minutes.
We used the Microsafe® jug.
750 grams ripe tomatoes
Peel the tomatoes and chop finely.
Put into jug and add:
2 cloves chopped garlic
½ teaspoon salt and pepper
1 teaspoon sugar.
Stir to mix ingredients. Put lid on jug with pourer open. Microwave on high for 5 minutes. Stir. Microwave again until tomatoes are soft (4 to 5 minutes). Stir. Remove from microwave. Let rest for 2 minutes. Leave the flap open while the food is hot.
Note: For the best result it is important to dice the tomatoes small.
Before resting period, mix in 1/2 cup basil leaves or add 1/4 cup pesto and stir through sauce.
