 | Strawberries in Caramel and Orange Sauce | |
This is a richly coloured and perfumed sauce to serve with ice-cream. It can be made in advance and the berries added when reheating at dinnertime.
Serves 4 (with ice-cream).
Preparation time 7 minutes. Cooking time 4 minutes.
We used the Tellfresh® Microsafe® 750 ml round storer (without steaming rack).
30 grams unsalted butter
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
½ cup brown sugar
juice of 1 orange
1 punnet strawberries, hulled and (if large) cut into halves
1 tablespoon brandy or orange liqueur
| Place the butter, orange rind, juice and brown sugar into the storer. Stir well. Put lid on storer with red vent open. Microwave on high for 1½ minutes. Remove lid and stir. Put lid on with red vent open and microwave for a further 1½ minutes.
If making in advance, you can stop at this stage.
At dinnertime, add berries. Put lid on storer with red vent open. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Let rest for 1 minute. Stir through brandy or orange liqueur. Serve hot with ice-cream.
